Product description

For rapid detection of multiple analytes in human urine. For professional in-vitro diagnostic use only.

The Reactif 7 urinalysis strips are solid plastic strips on which multiple, separated reagent fields are applied. The test is for the qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of one or more of the following analytes in urine: blood, glucose, ketone, leukocytes, nitrite, pH and proteins. The Reactif urinalysis strips are intended for single use at sites close to the patient (point of care) and central laboratories.
The cardboard label lists the respective analytes - compare the corresponding analyte with the fields on the colour scale. The Reactif urinalysis strips can be read optically as well as evaluated with the help of the urinalysis device and are intended for professional use only.
In the course of an illness or when the body is malfunctioning, urine undergoes many changes before the blood composition changes to a clearly recognisable extent. Urinalysis is a useful procedure as an indicator of health or disease, and as such is used in routine health screening. The Reactif urinalysis strip can be used in the determination of general health and helps in the diagnosis and monitoring of metabolic diseases or systemic diseases affecting kidney function, endocrine disorders and diseases or disorders of the urinary tract.

Blood
Colour development ranges from orange to green to dark blue. The development of green spots or green colour forming in the reagent field within 60 seconds is significant and the urine sample should be investigated further. In women, blood is often, but not always, found in the urine during menstruation. The significance of detected traces may vary between patients, so clinical assessment of samples is required.

Glucose
This test is not affected by the presence of ketone or the pH of the urine. The test is based on a specific glucose oxidase/peroxidase (GOD/POD) reaction.

Ketones
Ketones are not normally present in urine. Detectable concentrations of ketones in the urine may occur due to physiological stress such as fasting, pregnancy or frequent exercise. In dieting or other abnormal carbohydrate metabolism conditions, highly elevated ketone levels may occur in the urine before serum ketones are elevated. The test is based on the principle of sample by legal.

Leukocytes
This test indicates the presence of granulocyte esterases. The esterases cleave a derivatised pyrazole amino acid ester to release derivatised hydroxypyrazole. This pyrazole reacts with a diazonium salt to produce a beige-pink to purple colour. Normal urine samples usually give negative results. Trace results may be of questionable clinical significance. If trace results occur, it is recommended to repeat the test with a fresh sample from the same patient. Repeated traces and positive results are of clinical significance.

Nitrite
This test is based on the conversion of nitrate to nitrite by gram-negative bacteria in urine. In an acidic environment, nitrite in urine reacts with p-arsanilic acid to form a diazonium compound. The diazonium compound in turn binds to 1 N-(1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine and produces a pink colour. Nitrite is not detectable in normal urine. The nitrite colour field may become positive in some infections, depending on the length of time the urine remains in the bladder before collection. Positive samples detected with the nitrite test range from values of

Protein
At a constant pH, any development of a green colour is due to the presence of protein. The colours range from yellow to yellow-green for negative results and from green to green-blue for positive results. A normal kidney can excrete 1-14 mg/dL of protein. Definite proteinuria is indicated when the colour developed is attributable to any colour field indicating more than trace. Clinical judgement is required to assign significance to detected traces.

pH value
This test is based on a dual indicator system with a wide colour range covering the entire pH range of urine. The colours range from orange to yellow and green to blue. The expected range of normal urine samples from newborns is pH 5-7. The expected range of all other normal urine samples is pH 4.5-8, with an average value of pH 6.
