Qualitative and semi-quantitative determination of plasma reagins. Reagins are antibodies against some components of damaged tissue from patients infected with Treponema pallidum - the pathogen that causes syphilis. This microorganism causes damage to the liver and heart by releasing some tissue fragments.
The patient's immunological system reacts by producing reagins, i.e. antibodies against these fragments.
