The NADAL® TPHA Microplate Haemagglutination Test is an indirect haemagglutination test for the qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of specific Treponema pallidum antibodies in human serum.
Syphilis is a venereal disease caused by infection with T. pallidum. The bacteria is transmitted through direct contact with productive lesions. The incubation period is about 20 days. The disease develops through 3 different stages, each with different symptoms. T. pallidum antibodies appear during the first stage and persist in 85-90% of treated patients, even after they have been treated and cured.
The NADAL® TPHA Microplate Haemagglutination Test is an indirect haemagglutination test for the qualitative and semi-quantitative detection of specific T. pallidum antibodies in human serum. Stabilised avian erythrocytes sensitised with T. pallidum antigens agglutinate in the presence of T. pallidum antibodies, resulting in a characteristic pattern.
