The NADAL® FOB QUANT test is a chromatographic immunoassay (immunological "Fecal Occult Blood" test, iFOBT) in lateral flow format for the quantitative detection of human haemoglobin in stool samples. This test is intended as an aid in the diagnosis of pathologies in the lower gastrointestinal tract, especially in patients with abdominal complaints of unclear origin or abnormalities in bowel movements. In addition, the NADAL® FOB QUANT test is suitable for screening symptom-free patients who are classified as a risk group due to their age, a family history of colon cancer or other factors. The quantitative measurement and evaluation of the test results is performed with the nal von minden Colibri. The test performance is not automated and does not require any special training or qualification. The test is designed for professional use only.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and a leading cause of cancer-related deaths. Nearly 55% of cases occur in more developed regions. Globally, incidence varies by as much as a factor of 10, with the highest age-standardised rates found in Australia/New Zealand (ASR 44.8 and 32.2 per 100,000 men and women, respectively) and the lowest in West Africa (ASR 4.5 and 3.8 per 100,000 men and women, respectively). Testing for occult (hidden) blood in stool can increase the chances of early detection of colorectal cancer, thereby reducing mortality.
