The individually packed test strips are for use in the detection of zopiclone. The test will yield a positive result from a cut-off of 50 ng/mL.
For the occasional testing of single parameters, individually packed test strips are the ideal choice. They are protected against humidity and environmental influences and therefore offer a long shelf life.
Z-medications were originally called 'Z-drugs' - referring to zopiclone, zolpidem and zaleplone, advertised as a good alternative to benzodiazepines. It is now known that the risk of addiction here is actually comparable to benzodiazepines. For this reason, zoplicone and co are only approved for use in the short-term treatment of sleep problems. However, they are still prescribed for longer-term use - especially zopiclone.
Until now, the detection of Z-medication misuse was difficult, as they have similar effects to benzodiazepines. However, their chemical structure is very different and so screening tests for benzodiazepines would not pick them up. There were previously not many tests available specifically for Z-substances, but nal von minde now offers urine rapid tests for the detection of all Z-substances, including zopiclone.
