The indivudally packed test strips are for use in the detection of paracetamol. The tests will yield a positive result from a cut-off of 5000 ng/mL.
For the occasional testing of single parameters, individually packed test strips are the ideal choice. They are protected against humidity and environmental influences and therefore offer a long shelf life.
Paracetamol is the most common cause of liver failure in countries such as the USA, Australia and Great Britain, as well as Scandinavia. The easily purchased painkiller is also often used in suicides, although this can take days, during which time the victim experiences nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. The cause of death after 4 days is liver failure.
If patients with pain complain of these symptoms, a test for paracetamol is recommended.
