The individually packaged test strips are used to detect Methylphenidate. The present test yields a positive result from a cut-off of 150 ng/mL.
For regular testing of specific individual parameters, we recommend the test strips in the container. They are space-saving and environmentally friendly, as they save packaging waste.
As a stimulant belonging to the group of indirect sympathomimetics, Methylphenidate blocks the reuptake of neurotransmitters, thereby increasing their concentration in the synaptic cleft and maintaining high activity in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Methylphenidate was first synthesized in 1944 by Leandro Panizzon, who named the compound Ritalin® after his wife Rita. Despite controversial discussions, the medication has become established in the treatment of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and narcolepsy. Today, Methylphenidate is available in numerous preparations, including Ritalin® and various other formulations, both as a racemate and in the pure form of Dexmethylphenidate, which is primarily responsible for the pharmacological effects. Like other stimulating substances, Methylphenidate carries a high potential for misuse, particularly when used outside the intended routes of administration for therapeutic purposes.
