The individually packed test cassettes are for use in the detection of EDDP. The test will yield a positive result from a cut-off of 100 ng/mL. Unlike test strips, test cassettes require only a few drops of urine for a reliable result. Test cassettes are suitable for use in laboratories, as they are easily integrated into a workflow.
EDDP is the primary metabolite of methadone, which is used in substitution therapy to ease the symptoms of opiate withdrawal. The additional testing of EDDP in urine can indicate whether the patient has correctly taken their dose of methadone, whether the methadone has been mixed with someone else's urine, or if another opioid has been taken. For the monitoring of patient compliance, an EDDP test is the right way to go.
