For occasional testing of individual parameters, the individually packaged test strips are the right choice. They are protected from humidity and other environmental influences, ensuring a long shelf life.
The semi-synthetic opioid buprenorphine is primarily used in substitution therapy, most commonly in the form of the medication Subutex®, which is taken sublingually in tablet form. It has stronger analgesic effects than morphine and is intended to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and cravings, especially for heroin. However, buprenorphine does not produce euphoria. Unlike methadone, it is also less sedating, allowing patients to feel clearer in their thinking and actions. Nonetheless, buprenorphine is also traded on the black market. While it is less potent than illicit or other medically-used opioids, the concurrent use of benzodiazepines and/or alcohol can lead to respiratory depression and fatal consequences.
