The individually packaged test cassettes are used for the detection of TCA. This test shows a positive result at a cut-off of 300 ng/mL.
Compared to test strips, the test cassette requires only a few drops of blood to produce a reliable result. Test cassettes are also suitable for use in the laboratory as they can be conveniently integrated into the workflow.
Tricyclic antidepressants are first-generation antidepressants. They are also referred to as tricyclics for short. Their name refers to their chemically triple (3 = tri) ring structure. Well-known representatives are imipramine, clomipramine, doxepin, desipramine, or nortriptyline. They are used to treat moderate to severe depression. In addition, tricyclics have a pain-relieving effect. When taken together with painkillers, they can enhance their effect. In this case, caution is advised. The same applies to the combined intake with alcohol.
