The individually packaged test cassettes are used for the detection of morphine/opiates. This test yields a positive result starting at a cut-off of 40 ng/mL.
Compared to test strips, the test cassette requires only a few drops of blood to display a reliable result. Test cassettes are also suitable for use in the laboratory, as they can be easily integrated into the workflow.
Opium, which has been known for more than 200 years, is nothing more than the dried latex of the opium poppy. The main active ingredient of opium is morphine, which is considered the gold standard in pain treatment, as it even relieves the most severe pain. It binds to the opioid receptors, preventing the transmission of pain signals to the brain. In addition, a calming, euphoric feeling sets in, as well as peace and satisfaction, which brings a high potential for addiction. This is precisely why morphine has been classified as a narcotic.
